Oops, I did it again.....

You know, anyone who seeks to be famous must one day face the cost of fame: public scrutiny.

I think of all the people who have been at the top of their game. Let's take little Brittany Spears for example. She was the Pop Princess for several years. She was on every teen and post-teen magazine. You turned on the radio and she was number one. She was every where and "everyone" loved her.

brittanyThen something happened. People turned on her for various reasons. Was her "talent" not lasting? Was it possibly due to OVER exposure (literally and figuratively)? Now, in many ways, she is a joke. The fickleness of fame.

Lately, I have been getting a lot of flack for the number of comments on my posts. Will I fall like Brittany because my blog is "over-exposed"? Am I a flash-in-the-pan talent that will one day grow old and be replaced by younger, cooler blogsters?

These are hard questions to face. All you out there that are coveting the comments think about this--public scrutiny is a fickle, fickle thing. The pressure to out-do and surpass one's own previous work, to expand as a blogger and to "reinvent" oneself is tough. Enjoy your ambiguity while you have it.

This little toe.....

Okay, so last night I had a bad toe cramp. Yes, a TOE cramp, as in the toe next to the big toe cramped up on me. I get these a lot, and they are quiet painful. My toe goes straight and kind of angles to the right. It is only this one toe too, and always on the right foot. (Allison was there and can vouch for me that it did happen.)

It really hurts. Am I the only one with this pain? I'm so random.

"I'LL BE BACK....."

My lastest request from one of the BSU staff: "Holly, will you photoshop me looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger?"

Chris enjoys sending these to supporters because they tend to write back to something like this, and it helps him keep contact with them. Any ideas for future projects? I can't believe I get paid to do this. So, here it is.....

In a land far, far away....

I have some "plugs" to do in case some of you don't read everyone's blogs. First, is Brandon Jones' new blog entry. It is very good on biotechnology and the whole Terry Schiavo case. Ryan Mock has some very interesting art you can analyze. (My interpretation is that it is a progression of someone dying. They ate bad claims and the death angel is coming to get them.) Debby describes her encounter with the shirtless Adrian Peterson (she took pictures by the way). And new to the blogging ring that is the that is the BSU is Lindsay Vassar. I stole this quiz from her.

"Which Disney Princess are you?" It was super short and fun. (Guys, you should take it to see which princess you should ask to the Spring Banquet!)

Click here to take the quiz!

By the way, "Prince Charmingly Late," I am Cinderella:

Cinderalla

"You are modest Cinderella! You don't feel you live up to peoples expectations, but you exceed them. You are beautiful and charming, you just need to let it shine and not let others get in the way!"

Ah, thanks Disney for saying such kind words. :)

In a Pickle

I get on theses "kicks" where I want the same thing all the time. My mom is this way, as is one of my brothers. I guess it is genetic or something. Anyway, my latest kick is dill pickles--especially hamburger style dill pickles (and they MUST also be COLD!). Yummy! My mouth is watering just thinking about them.Pickles

I like to salt them too. I know, I know, I always salt everything. But on the dill pickle slices it is a perfect mix. For all you naysayers out there, you should try it before counting it off as weird.

Other so-called "odd" things I salt include apples, oranges, watermelon to name a few. Brian Cllifton, remember at the MT retreat a couple of years ago where I got you to salt your apple? He was one naysayer that was proved wrong.

Thinking about it, I have a lot of "weird" food combinations. For example, I like mayo on my chili-cheese dog. I dip pizza in ranch (not as odd anymore). As a kid, one of my favorite lunches was cold, iceberg luttuce with cream of chicken soup. I haven't made that in years, but it still sounds good. For breakfast, we used to have white rice with butter and sugar on it. I'm sure there are more, but that is all I can think of this morning as examples.

This blog entry may not save the world, but I hope it gives hope to others who have quirky tastes and food combinations.
