Oops, I did it again.....
You know, anyone who seeks to be famous must one day face the cost of fame: public scrutiny.
I think of all the people who have been at the top of their game. Let's take little Brittany Spears for example. She was the Pop Princess for several years. She was on every teen and post-teen magazine. You turned on the radio and she was number one. She was every where and "everyone" loved her.
Then something happened. People turned on her for various reasons. Was her "talent" not lasting? Was it possibly due to OVER exposure (literally and figuratively)? Now, in many ways, she is a joke. The fickleness of fame.Lately, I have been getting a lot of flack for the number of comments on my posts. Will I fall like Brittany because my blog is "over-exposed"? Am I a flash-in-the-pan talent that will one day grow old and be replaced by younger, cooler blogsters?
These are hard questions to face. All you out there that are coveting the comments think about this--public scrutiny is a fickle, fickle thing. The pressure to out-do and surpass one's own previous work, to expand as a blogger and to "reinvent" oneself is tough. Enjoy your ambiguity while you have it.
